Fundraising

Pancake breakfast:
All students were given 10 tickets ($7 each) to sell.  All the money goes right into the students’ band bank account since a few stores were generous enough to donate the food supplies.  All tickets should be sold this week.  Students and parents are to arrive to set-up for the event this Saturday at 8:00 a.m.  The event is over at 11:00 a.m. and then we just need to tidy up and return equipment to the music room.  Thank you for your help!
Tag Day:  We just need to solidify our plans, but it has been tentatively scheduled, by student vote, for Friday, May 29th and Saturday the 30th.
Small businesses: Our student band executive are visiting some local stores to ask for some local support for the band students in return for advertising at our events.
Loblaws swipe cards:  YES, this program is up and running for ALL grade 9-12 music students.  Please check out the process on this site.  You need to bring cash (ex. $400) to Mark’s Work Warehouse and purchase the swipe card that you will use at a Loblaw’s affiliate store (yigs, Price Chopper, Sobey’s…) You make 3% each time.  It seems small but it does add up over the year.  It does not operate between June and September.

1.
No plans? Students have not yet commited to any fundraising efforts.  I am hoping to arrange a Tag Day in November to get the ball rolling.
2. Spaghetti dinner: Again, no plans as of yet, but tradition has it placed in the first week in December.  Perhaps we need a parent meeting.  Any volunteers?  Last year, thanks to several parents who really stepped up to the plate, we had our most successful spaghetti dinner raising around $3,000.  Outstanding!
3. Loblaws program: If you are interested in ordering the gift cards and picking up the money from Mark’s Work Wearhouse every 2 weeks and depositing it in our bmlss account, please let me know.  This is an effortless way to raise a lot of money.  One can shop at any Loblaw’s affiliate (Sobey’s, Yigs, Loblaws, Price Chopper..).  Check out the ‘Loblaws’ link on our website for details (under  Fundraising).

1. Loblaws Swipe Card Program:  YES!
We are now ready to rock and roll.  The swipe cards have arrived at Mark’s Work Wearhouse.  Please remember that you need to have exact cash–totals of $50 or $100 for the card choices.  Debit or visa is not acceptable.  So visit your friendly ATM machine first.  Then, shop, shop, shop!  See the link for ‘Loblaws Swipe Card Program for full explanation of how it operates.

2. Successful events: The spaghetti dinner raised the most amount in the history of our school.  So, bravo to our parents committee and in particular, Don Evans, Leslie Jennings, Sue and Chris Milner, Barb Hammell, Jennifer Schandlen, Glen and Diane Kitchen and Jan Lucy for their organizing efforts.  Many parents helped out the evening of the event which is wonderful to see…and is needed, too.  Our Gingerbread kit sales organized by Jan Lucy was quick and efficient and also a great success.

1. Loblaws Swipe Card Program
: Click here for explanation of program
(Co-ordinator: Roger Schandlen)
This program is about to start up again–mid-December.  Following the instructions and this year the location to purchase the swipe cards has been changed to Mark’s Work Wearhouse.  The easiest fundraiser of all!  Contact Mr. Schandlen for inquiries.  Cards can be purchased in $50 or $100–buy more than one card at once for ease.  Get your neighbours and friends to help out.  This is the most effective way.
2. (Car Wash):  Past.  A great success everyone!
Thanks to Muskoka Chryslar and to supervisors, Don Evans and Jan Lucy.
Date of event was: Saturday, October 11.

3. Gingerbread Houses have arrived: Please pick up your assigned box(es) with your full order in it already organzied by Mrs. Lucy.  These must be delivered by this week (week of Dec. 8th) for your customers’ enjoyment.

4. Wreaths/swags: To be delivered this week hopefully.  Stay tuned.
